It’s probably the only photo editor you need. I've tried the others mentioned.Affinity Photo is an image editor designed for photography, easy to use, and effective. but they work well and are mature products. For Raw processing:Ĭapture One 12 does quite well with Sony files and there is a Sony-only version that reduces the one-time cost. Also which O/S (I'm going to assume Windows). That said, if they fix the issues I think it will rock.ĭepends if you want a Raw-processing tool or a Photoshop clone. Personally I like it and will use it despite the issues, but I'm not a pro and don't shoot tons of pictures at the moment. Do I think it is fully ready for primetime or professional high volume use? Probably not, but it has great potential when they fix the issues that are currently in the product. People complain about lr, but that performs stellar compared to certain operations in luminar. It most definitely has some performance issues, which they are aware of and fixes should come soon. My experience with Luminar is that although lightroom-esq, it seems to run quite slowly (and my PC isn't much of a slouch) - is this something that you've experienced? Thanks for your message - I've heard a similar comparison made RE: photoshop vs lightroom. It's far from perfect at this stage, but it is powerful and gives me results I like really quick. (for refrence, I'm using a Sony a6000 with a range of Sigma, Samyang and vintage lenses).Īffinity vs luminar is like photoshop vs lightroom, two very different beasts that can achieve similar things. Now the trials have expired, I'm concerned that I might have unfairly dismissed Luminar and wondered if anybody had a preference between the two, and if I missed something glaring in Luminar? I've used both trial versions, and have leaned more to Affinity - the lack of 'cataloguing' hasn't bothered me as I used RawTherapee for that anyway. The two that I was steered in were Luminar 3 and Affinity Photo. My dialema is that I don't want to be dragged in to the subscription model, I want to purchase once - upgrade later if I choose - so this takes Lightroom off the table. I'm currenlty using the Sony Edge Imaging, RawTherapee 5.5, but am wanting something 'more'. I'm in the market for some new photo-editing software.
